For christmas I got a set of POSCA paint pens! these two are some practice drawings I did. They’re fun to use and the colors came out just how i hoped they would!

A few years ago, I sent my boyfriend a sketchbook full of drawings for Christmas. This was one of the pieces inside!! I’ve considered turning this into a print, because I think it would make a nice poster.

here's some punk diy tips and ideas

[other than crusty pants and battle jacket, although we still love those greatly.]

why should you diy, when you can just find decorated items everywhere, you can ask. what if you are clumsy at painting or anything?

firstly, good questions. we diy so we don't give credit to the big companies who rule the world. we diy to get more independent from the system we dislike. we diy so to save money. to express uniqueness, recognize eachother and be recognized. and especially to have fun and feel cool. diy is not only about clothing, but anything you can set your mind on. of course, one cannot make EVERYTHING for themselves, there isn't enough time and energy. but making at least small steps are already a statement and more than nothing. also, helping small artists by buying their products is also pretty punk.

that being said, i provide you with some tips of mine, all gained from experience:

anything you drew/painted on, you will WANT TO protect. acrylic paint/markers + acrylic paint varnish/transparent nail polish/textile medium are your best friends. read after anything that's new to you.

i highly recommend working with old clothing or thrift shop finds when it comes to textiles, as it is environmentally friendly and you will stay in budget. Anyways, always make sure that the material you use isn't gonna be problematic. for example, if you want to do some patchwork, the material shouldn't decay easily (if it does, it will come off so quickly.). if you want to paint on it, it shouldn't be rugged.

you can not only draw/paint on your canvas shoes, but can also sew, embroidery (just make sure to use a thimble, plus floss instead of thread could make your work more durable), and add beads and trinkets to your shoelaces. in the case of shoes, never use glue (neither hot nor instant glue) – it will come off quickly. for some inspiration, i'll show you my shoes!

(the fake moss is literally unstoppable from falling off or getting dirty. risky idea.)

it's good to carry around water and food!! you don't even have to pay for decorative water bottles and food boxes, as you can draw on glass and plastic just fine with acrylic markers. just don't forget to paint transparent nail polish all over your drawing. in at least two layers. don't be lazy or laid-back. even posca comes off while washing the dishes. and you WANT TO save your reference pictures/final designs, as the case of emergency is likely. but after all, my water bottle is exactly fine after six months, with no accuring problem.

if your current best option to get stickers from is aliexpress or overpriced decor stores, search for local artists and shops on instagram and tiktok, as it may be their most efficent way of getting you to know them. if it seems like you have no chance, you may can still find a print shop with the option of printing on self-adhesive sheets (at least in hungary, those are pretty cheap). and if you want drawings to print out as stickers, you may use your own or –ONLY IF YOU GET PERMISSION– other artist's work. not only good for decorations for like, headphones, but for vandalism too. WAIT WAIT who said that. who said it. not me. no never

(in case that's also impossible, you can create stickers by printing out/drawing a picture, cover it up in transparent adhesive tape, and then put some two-sided adhesive tape on the white side of the pic. it won't be that durable, but it functions.)

if you want to bleach-paint clothing, get some plastic brushes!! any other brush dissolves. draw your design first with chalk!! never forget to put cardboard inside the clothing, and to wash the finished work in a washing machine before you'd put it on. prepare to be patient with the process. and it's not dangerous to touch 5%-9% household bleach, just wash your hands soon after.

if you want your crusty pants to last veryyy long, wax them. look up on youtube jeans waxing.

some more things i made for myself so to give you some inspiration: totebag with pockets, a small crystal holder cabinet, badges, and i decorated some t-shirts, button-ups, an id card case, phonecase, laptop.

theoretically speaking, there is nothing that an individual would be unable to learn how to make, when it comes to diy. you can't imagine how easy it is to bake bread at home. consuming-focused media makes people believe that it's hard to make anything. of course, everyone has to decide about their own priorities, i don't want to convince or change anyone in here. and if you have any questions, send an ask!! i hope i had been helpful.

Album bracelets: Lofi Phantasy

I made bracelets for all the albums, so here is the second one! A way to see that its an album number is that I added four small colour coded beads in the middle of the back before knotting the elastic. The colours are based on the DanAndPhilBeats logo - being orange and light blue!

Lazy Saturday colour choice is honestly random. Now that its been a couple of months since I made it I think it looks like corn xD

Virtual Fields colour choice is light green and yellow, because the name made me think of summer and wheat fields from my childhood, and those start out light green and turn yellowish then drying.

Tokens In colour choice is pink and yellow because I was thinking of the paper tickets u get in arcades, but I recall them coming in both colours, so I went for both.

Pixels In The Wind colour choice is again light green because of the field visual I got, and white for the clouds.

Golden Pig colour choice is gold in different sizes and shades I had. And then I got hold of some piggy charms and painted one gold with a posca pen.

Sofa Crease colour choice is silver and dark grey for the sofas colour and highlights.

Small Town Store colour choice was tricky but I ended on the blue colours by reaching more towards Phil's childhood town, which seemed fair, as the sofa crease track is dedicated to Dan xD

Plant Propogation colour choice is fully green with leaves to look like a plant.

Afternoon Nap colour choice is dusty blue and grey, for the sky in the afternoon.

Lounging Lads colour choice is red, blue and black, for Dan, Phil and their sofa.

A Good Stretch colour choice is two shades of silver, cuz I thought that fitted. Not sure why, just felt right.

Birds At The Window colour choice is the same as Pixels In The Wind. I don't think I did this on purpose tbh.

Try New Things colour choice is two shades of purple. The dark purple is for their first album and the light purple is just to match nicely.

Fish Tank Bubbles colour choice is blue for water, with beads to look like fish and bubbles. I also used as many blue letter beads as I could.

Sunlight On The Screen colour choice is golden-yellow beads to mimic sunlight on/through glass, and with yellow and orange letter beads to match that.

Autosave colour choice is light blue and white, partly cuz I felt it fitted and partly cuz I chose to add a dark blue swirl bead to mimic a loading circle thingy, and then blue beads would look nice.

Coffees And Cookies colour choice is glassy brown and light opaque brown, put in a order to try to mimic chocolate cookies a bit. The charm comes from a stitch marker I pulled apart.

Lava Lamp colour choice is also golden-yellow beads mixed with red and opaque yellow. this was a pre-mix of beads I got and the glassy vs the opaque colours fit nicely for a lava lamp, with the colours also reminding me of lava a little.

Blue And Black colour choice is (shocker) dark blue and black. I also matched the letter beads to it, and had to go buy more coloured letter beads because no-one I knew with coloured letter beads had a freaking blue L in their stock.

Box Boys colour choice is two type of browns to represent cardboard boxes.

DIY travel size Gojo Satoru 👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️ -- packaging included!!! (⚠️Do NOT remove packaging!⚠️)

Detailed instructions under the cut!

1.

Draw the layout of the cube on the back of a fake oreo box from Aldi. Other varieties of cardboard might work as well but I haven't tested any.

2.

Cut around the edges. Using scissors instead of a knife might make the process more painful.

3.

Crease along the inside of the bends. Ball-point pens work great for this!

4.

Add two-sided tape.

5.

Carefully remove the protective paper from the tape and fold along the bends into a cube.

Optional: you can add in a little Gojo Satoru if you do not trust the recipient to follow instructions and not open the box.

6.

Add eyeballs, 21 of them. I used the sort of tiny plastic balls that are inside fountain pen ink cartridges.

I also used the kind of glue that is generally associated with sniffing, because that's what I had at home. No, I will not elaborate.

7.

Tape them down with thin strips of papers in the shape of eyelids for extra security and style.

8.

Paint the eyeballs white. I used nail polish to achieve extra shininess and smoothness.

9.

For the irises, I used a combination of posca markers and sparkly blue nailpolish, but any combination of sufficiently blue and sparkly paints that stick to plastic should do.

10. Finally, I painted the rest of the cube with chalk paint (a mix of acrylic paint and baking soda) to achieve a sort of contrete-y look and mask imperfections, but for a smoother metallic finish, again, nail polish or simple acrylic paint will do.

And second set is actually made for adults, but it wasn't so hard to make and I wasn't building some naked humans. Can someone explain why the box says: 18+ ???

Quick progress post on the body of Pandora’s box! I’m using posca for the detail work because I have a bit more control, so I’m letting it dry overnight so my paint doesn’t smear the marker.

This piece is going to be included in a group exhibition in November so I’m hoping to get it done soon! Once the body is finished and everything is varnished, I’ll wood glue the body to the base.

Thank you! As for my art it’s usually mixed media? I guess technically? Cause I transfer a lot of my sketchbook doodles into digital. (Ibispaint on my phone)

For traditional I kinda just play around with the supplies I have. I usually do the undersketch with either a light colored pencil or these bic pastel highlighters, sometimes I just stick to regular pencil though. And then to finalize it I usually go over with a darker colored pencil, or these I think they’re called zebra mild liners and sometimes I just leave it at that. (Sometimes I color the sketches in with the zebras). The pencil drawings are what I usually transfer to digital though, since it’s easier to extract the lineart when there isn’t color or different values

As for the paint markers my method usually starts with the colored pencils, then I color them. I’m not entirely sure what brand these are? They’re not posca. The box doesn’t have a brand name that I can tell, it just says acrylic paint markers but it’s got a multicolored giraffe on the front. So I usually color them with those, wait for it to dry, and then go over it with a really thin ink pen (0.38). I’m still used to working with the paint markers, as I’m relatively new to using them as a medium

Then digitally I usually stick pencil (#1), pencil (graphite) and then a couple brushes I customized for myself that I use specifically for painting

Bought some like Stitch blind boxes and got two of the same figure I already had! >:(

So one piece is like this red car (stitch is seperate) and I have metallic Posca paint markers so my brain decided to change the color of the cars. 🤣🙈

Also using a tiny pencil for some places. Lol. Idek. And listening to some of Dead Meat's Kill count eps. XD

Movement Project: Sculpture

Once the paint had dried, I went in with a posca paint marker to draw in the details of the door, letter box, windows and ivy.
